Where Would Your Mind Go?
Music and Lyrics by Michael Alan Silverstone

Where would your mind go?
If it was free to go everywhere?
What would your eyes choose?
If you were free to see everything at last?
What would your ears hear?
What do you know?
And what would be remembered
from a long time ago
Where would your mind go?

My father came from Ireland
his sister had to leave him behind.
Took the train to Kansas
He took the work he could find
he worked as a cowboy
he worked on a farm
found a job as a salesman
just getting by on charm

Where would your mind go?
If it was free to go everywhere?
What would your eyes choose?
If you were free to see everything at last?
Where would your mind go?

Mother was a troubled woman
don’t know why she did what she did
They moved back east to Pennsylvania
She died when I was a kid
I went into the Navy
when I was 19
came out a Lieutenant
Married Ada Jeanne

Where would your mind go?
If it was free to go everywhere?
What would your eyes choose?
If you were free to see everything at last?
Where would your mind go?

I always knew what I wanted
I liked to be in charge
I liked to stick with my opinions
in matters small and large
I wanted to be good to my family
and my people working with me
so grateful to all of ‘em
as grateful as I can be
And if I never told them enough
I still hope they got to see
How much it meant that they were there
to share this life with me.

Where does your mind go
now its free to go everywhere
what will your eyes choose
now you’re free to see everything at last
what do your ears hear
and what do you know
what will we manage to remember
from a long time ago—
Where would your mind go?
