When You’re Lost
Words and Music by Michael Silverstone

When you’re lost
and nothing’s left to
believe in or hold on to
and you breathe
like that’s the only concern that’s left to feel
The sunlight on the wood
and the warm and glow of peace around you
convince you just to be
so contentedly
alive for a moment

Once I flew
and I eventually knew
my fault was dreaming
as I found
I had mistakenly taken false for true
with curses undeserved
but undeterred by special pleading
as you believe that they have sought you out
and know about all the ways you’re unworthy

But if you happen to have caught the moment
rest restores the calm of your belief
the breath that fills you slow
--takes you just as gently as it’s

moving to the rhythm of a heartbeat softly
holding you as steady as it goes
we’re all made up of just the stories
that we tell ourselves

In the end
its just a feeling that
takes its time forever
in the calm
and at the pace
it exactly needs to be
to be with being
at the heart of warmth
that fills your fully
the breath that leaves your chest
returns to you ground you no
