Red rock in the desert
high blue in the sky
mesa in the distance
cactus stand close by

Spirit all around us
teach us to survive
and learn to keep the balance
that keeps us all alive
Oh oh-oh
Oh oh-oh

Presence of the elders
surrounds us as we’re born
we walk the four directions
as people of the corn

Spirit all around us
teach us to survive
and learn to keep the balance
that keeps us all alive
Oh oh-oh
Oh oh-oh

The sun heats up for hours
as dryness rules the land
creatures burrow under
waiting in the sand

when the evening darkens
in cool and starry light
snakes and owls and insects
awaken in the night
Oh oh-oh
Oh oh-oh

Our fathers build our cradles
Our mothers grow our food
Both teach us and protect us
We live our gratitude

Spirit all around us
teach us to survive
and learn to keep the balance
that keeps us all alive
Oh oh-oh
Oh oh-oh
Oh oh-oh
Oh
