In the Night

by Michael Silverstone

/

about

This studio version features the great James Robinson on lead guitar, the brilliance of Rob Douglas contributing ghostly and mournful lead banjo, and a jolly bunch of pirates caterwauling at the moon. If you listen carefully, you can hear me chime on a plinka-plinka Ukelele.

This version goes on and on like 100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, but by the end it builds a convincing case that everybody's gonna get through this world somehow.

In the night
in the middle of the night
even little children wonder how to look for light
and find a way to know what to do
when it looks like there's no one else around
to see 'em on through

In a word
in the middle of a word
you might not understand the undertones of what you'd heard
when the change
comes over you
you might think of something different that you didn't realize that you knew

Don't know what's coming after
don't know what went before
don't know much about anything at all
Just a little bit about what's right here now

In the night
in the middle of the night

In a dream
in the middle of a dream
can't remember now exactly what I'd seen
but I knew it then
and I know it now
that everybody's gonna get through this world somehow

In the night
in the middle of the night
in the night
in the middle of the night
Everybody's gonna get throught this world somehow
Everybody's gonna get throught this world somehow
Everybody's gonna get throught this world somehow
Everybody's gonna get throught this world somehow
