Color Blind

about

I said, "I'm a guy, you know, it's like we're color blind."
What followed was an extremely helpful question: "Are you writing this down?"

I’m a guy, you know how we are
color blind to the way things feel
Sometimes I don’t know what’s right to say
let me try that again

I’m a guy who’s quick with words
feelings need more time I know
I tend to fill up all the spaces
I know that that’s not good

But I know some things. . .
and I am sure of something

I’ve had times when I was blue
--overwhelmed , and acting yellow
When I get mad and I see red
you couldn’t find a greener fellow

I know I’ve overlooked a lot
--colored lights and the signs of warning
but when its monochome to me
I don’t see when trouble’s forming
and I know that now, oooh-ooooh
so clearly

But I don’t want to be alone in this
No I don’t want to be alone, anymore

And I could see it in a moment there
The wings that lift the bird through open air
And that hopeful leap that love can bring
I see it, I feel it
