Love is slow-- the fear is faster
but pain doesn’t have to be a personal disaster
with everybody always telling you what to do

Now we see what is before us

it wasn’t what you once expected

I do believe
that there could be
a world in which
we see each other in ourselves
and
I do believe
that we could make the sacrifice
and be the ones who start when we’re not sure

between what’s unacceptable to lose
when you have to fight for your life
on the defensive
